McCain calls for inquiry into economic crisis

Republican presidential candidate John McCain today called for a top-level inquiry into the economic crisis, claiming that a corrupt and excessive Wall Street had betrayed American workers.

His Democratic opponent, Barack Obama, continued to criticise Mr McCain's comment yesterday that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong".
