Voting begins in Russian election

Voting has begun today in Russia's presidential election that will produce a successor to Vladimir Putin.

There is no significant opposition to Dmitry Medvedev, President Putin's endorsed choice to take over the presidency, and Mr Medvedev said that if he wins he will ask Putin to become prime minister - an offer that Mr Putin is sure to accept.
