30 injured in Paris train 'shunt'
About 30 people were slightly injured today when a commuter train slammed into a buffer at the end of the tracks at the Gare de l’Est train station in Paris, French railway officials said.
The train, which originated in the eastern Paris suburb of Chateau-Thierry, hit the buffer at about six miles per hour, SNCF railway officials said.
About 30 people were slightly injured, but no one was taken to hospital.
Firefighters were dispatched to the Gare de l’Est, in the east of the French capital, and station authorities put an emergency response plan into effect.
The train’s engineer was being held for questioning, judicial officials said.
