Paris police evacuated the Gare de l’Est train station today after a bomb threat, as authorities across Europe pressed on with efforts to prevent new violence after the worst terrorist attacks in decades.

Belgian authorities have said they thwarted a major attack by just hours when they killed two suspects in a shoot-out and arrested a third in a huge anti-terror operation that stretched into the night.

About 30 people were slightly injured today when a commuter train slammed into a buffer at the end of the tracks at the Gare de l’Est train station in Paris, French railway officials said.
