Complaints upheld against European Commission radio ads
The Broadcasting Complaints Commission has upheld a number of complaints against the European Commission over a series of ads about its Europe Direct information line.
The BCC found that a majority of the ads were not just aimed at providing information, but also promoting the benefits of EU membership.
As a result, it concluded that they were political in nature and breached broadcast advertising regulations.
The ads in question were broadcast on local radio stations throughout Ireland in June of last year.
