A ship carrying more than 70 passengers and crew sunk off Indonesia’s Sumatra island today in bad weather.

The accident occurred about 40 miles off the port of Sibolga on western Sumatra, and rescue vessels were heading to the scene, said naval spokesman Lt. Col. Jaka Sentosa.
