A former member of Saddam Hussein’s regime who was believed to be funding the insurgency has been captured, the Iraqi government said today.

It said Fadhil Ibrahim Mahmud Al-Mashadani, former leader of the military bureau, was caught at a farm north-east of Baghdad.
