Bush mending fences with Germans

President George Bush’s rapprochement tour to Europe reached Germany today - his first visit since the war in Iraq, which caused deep divisions that the two countries are still smoothing over.

Bush descended the gangway from Air Force One, his dark overcoat buttoned up against the cold and light snow, and was met by Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder on the tarmac at Rhein-Main Air Base in Frankfurt.
