Earthquake in Turkey
A moderate earthquake shook eastern Turkey today.
There were no reports of injuries or property damage.
The quake had a preliminary magnitude of 4.0 and was centred in Sivrice, a town in the province of Elazig, some 450 miles south east of Ankara, the capital.
Earthquakes are frequent in Turkey, much of which lies on the active North Anatolian fault.
Two devastating earthquakes killed about 18,000 people in north-western Turkey in 1999.
