Maxine injunction granted

A High Court injunction was granted today banning disclosure of the whereabouts of Maxine Carr.

The injunction was applied for by Carr’s lawyers and supported by the Home Office.

It was granted this afternoon on the basis that publication of her whereabouts could be detrimental to her safety.

A spokesman for the Home Office said: "An application was made by Maxine Carr's legal representatives for an injunction protecting disclosure of her whereabouts.

“The Home Office supported that application this afternoon on the same grounds as her legal representatives, namely concerns over her health, threats to her safety and the ability of the Probation Service and other agencies to supervise her case.”

A Home Office spokeswoman added: "Maxine Carr has not been located or photographed.

“She remains in Prison Service custody until Friday May 14.

“Her solicitors sought the injunction and asked us to provide a supporting statement which we have done. The injunction has been considered for some time and is not in response to Tuesday’s theft.

“The theft was not cited in court.”
