Teenage sniper gets life without parole
Teenage sniper Lee Boyd Malvo was jailed for life without parole today for his role in the Washington area killing spree that left 10 people dead.
Jamaican-born Malvo was sentenced a day after his accomplice, sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad, was given the death penalty.
Judge Jane Marum Roush imposed the sentence on Malvo during a brief hearing in Chesapeake, Virginia. The 18-year-old did not speak.
Malvo was convicted of murdering FBI analyst Linda Franklin outside a Virginia shop.
The killings began on October 2, 2002, when the pair shot a 55-year-old man outside a supermarket in Maryland. The following day, five people were killed in the Washington area – four within a span of about two hours.
