Saudis arrest Riyadh bombing suspect
Police in Saudi Arabia have arrested a suspected militant linked to the May 12 suicide bombings in the capital Riyadh.
Zafer Abdul Rahman al-Shihri was caught last night in an abandoned house in the southern province of al-Namas, state media said.
He was found with 50 automatic rifles, ammunition, a personal computer and fake identification papers.
Al-Shihri evaded police on Saturday when they tried to arrest him at work.
He allegedly shot and wounded a police officer, and then, on Sunday, the helicopter that was chasing him crashed, wounding 10 soldiers on board.
He is wanted for assisting 19 suspected militants who belong to the group behind the May 12 suicide attacks on foreigners’ housing compounds.
The attacks killed 25 bystanders, including two Britons, and triggered an extensive manhunt for Islamic militants.
