An Air France Concorde was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Halifax, Nova Scotia, today, due to an “engine glitch”, the airline said.

The 47 passengers on board Flight AF 002 from Paris were to be transferred to New York on other flights.

Safety aboard the supersonic jet has been in the spotlight since the crash of an Air France Concorde soon after takeoff three years ago.

The fiery crash outside Paris killed 113 people, and authorities grounded the planes for more than a year.

British Airways and Air France are the only airlines flying Concorde.

Last month, An Air France Concorde had to make a loop over the Atlantic Ocean and return to Paris after the jet failed to kick into supersonic mode.

In November, another Air France Concorde had a more dramatic mishap.

Passengers clutched each other in fear as the pilot rapidly descended 27,000 feet after one of the jet’s four engines malfunctioned.

The flight, which took off from New York, arrived safely at Charles de Gaulle airport.
