Mounds of earth not connected to missing girls
Police investigating two mounds of disturbed earth 10 miles from where Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman vanished have completed their search and found nothing.
Forensic experts worked through the night after the discovery of the earth at Warren Hill, in Newmarket, Suffolk.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Hebb said: "We have not found anything here connected to the disappearance of Jessica and Holly."
He likened the operation to an "archaeological dig". He says the search for a green car continues.
He told reporters: "Both sites consisted of loose soil mounds with nothing underneath. My heart goes out to their parents. This has been a very long and difficult night."
