One million watch Party at the Palace
London's metropolitan police say the crowds watching the Party in the Palace were estimated to be well over a million people.
Police had to close the central bridge in St James's Park for crowd safety reasons.
Just one person was arrested for being drunk and disorderly outside Buckingham Palace.
The green open spaces in front of the massive display screens in St James's Park were covered with a sea of people.
The crowds even interacted with the concert taking place a few hundred metres away by cheering each act as they took to the stage.
Marie Miller, 38, a carer from London, said: "This is wonderful. The atmosphere here is really great."
Mick South, 36, from Gravesend, Kent, brought his two young children to experience the event. He said: "This doesn't happen very often and it won't happen again in my lifetime and it's something I wanted my children to experience."
Speaking about the concert, he added: "The music's been great. Everything from Ozzy Osbourne to S Club 7 - what a mix. But that's it should be about, uniting everyone across the board.
Martha Hession, 21, a student nurse living in London, said: "I'm not a big fan of the Royal Family. I've just come along for the free music but I think she does a lot for England.
"The highlights for me have been Elton John and Eric Clapton but I wish there were a few more screens. It's hard to get a view with so many people around."
