Mourners gather for Princess Margaret's funeral

Mourners have arrived at Windsor Castle for the funeral of Princess Margaret.

A steady stream of cars and coaches carrying friends of the late Princess drove slowly through King Henry VIII Gate in the hour before the service in St George's Chapel.

Most of the Royal Family, including the Queen Mother, are inside the castle grounds for the service.

Lord Litchfield and his sister Lady Elizabeth Anson arrived at King Henry VIII gate, as did the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough.

The principal mourners are Princess Margaret's children, Lord Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto, the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales with the Queen Mother.

Lord Luce, the Lord Chamberlain, arrived on foot at the gates, while others, including Margaret's former boyfriend Roddy Llewellyn, came by coach.

The Princess's former husband, the Earl of Snowdon, was also expected to be among the 450 guests, which includes 30 royals.

Streets leading up to the main entrance were lined with crowds, some of whom had picked their spots from first light. Some had travelled from as far as Canada to be there.

After the service, expected to last 40 minutes to an hour, the coffin will be driven from the castle precincts. A piper of the Royal Highland Fusiliers will play a lament as the coffin is carried to the waiting hearse outside. Margaret was colonel-in-chief of the regiment.

The Princess will then be taken to Slough Crematorium for a private cremation, in accordance with her wishes.
