Milosevic’s wife gets visa for prison visit
Slobodan Milosevic’s wife was today given a Dutch visa, clearing the way for her to visit the former Yugoslav president at the UN prison in The Hague.
Mira Markovic and her daughter-in-law are expected to travel to The Hague in the next few days, after travel documents are issued by Dutch embassy officials in Belgrade.
Milosevic was handed over to the UN court on June 28 to face allegation of atrocities against Kosovo Albanians in 1999. The court is preparing further indictments for the Bosnian and Croatian wars.
Last week, the European Union waived a travel ban against Markovic and other Milosevic family members, and the war crimes tribunal asked the Dutch Foreign Affairs Ministry to approve the request.
