A flash flood today swept away more than 800 houses in northern Thailand, killing at least 12 people and leaving 4,000 others homeless, officials said.

A flash flood today swept away more than 800 houses in northern Thailand, killing at least 12 people and leaving 4,000 others homeless, officials said.

The flood, triggered by heavy downpours over the past few days, hit three mountainside villages in Phrae Province about 304 miles north of Bangkok.
