That’s what German police must have thought when their car got stuck on a narrow path while pursuing a moped-riding suspect. Rather than give up, one of the officers jumped on a child’s bike and successfully chased down and arrested the 27-year-old suspect.
Police say the suspect, who had evaded a traffic stop in the southern town of Bamberg, was carrying drugs and driving under the influence.
Police spokeswoman Silke Gahn said the officer, after the arrest, gratefully returned the 22in bike he had borrowed.
Grant for Peace
British-Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor is among the four recipients of this year’s Lennon Ono Grant for Peace.
Yoko Ono, wife of late Beatle John Lennon, announced that Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei, Hungarian poet and performance artist Katalin Ladik, and Danish-Icelandic installation artist Olafur Eliasson are also winners of the peace prize.
The awards will be presented in Reykjavik on October 9, which would have been Lennon’s 76th birthday.
Officials are trying to find a solution after a Rhode Island cemetery buried two men in the wrong plots, with one family wanting their loved one to stay put while the other wants their relative put in the grave they picked.
In October, a 65-year-old man was placed in the wrong family plot at Pocasset Hill Cemetery in Tiverton. In March, an 87-year-old man who was supposed to be buried in that plot died. He was buried in the other man’s plot. His family wants him to be moved to the plot they own, but the move is opposed by the 65-year-old’s family.
The head of the town cemetery commission said moving them would be “ridiculous”. The town solicitor said they are working on an agreement to switch the bodies.
Super Maze Bros
Images of Mario, Luigi, and friends have been carved into the fields of an upstate New York farm as part of a corn maze based on Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros series.
It is the latest installment of an annual themed maze at the Stoughton Farm in Newark Valley. Owner Tom Stoughton said the farm’s mazes typically attract about 10,000 visitors annually.
An aerial photo of the eight-acre maze shows Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, and Yoshi carved into the cornfield.
Time to toga toga again
A candidate for New Hampshire governor has vowed to work to restore the status of a Dartmouth College fraternity that loosely inspired the 1978 comedy film Animal House.
The Alpha Delta fraternity was kicked out of the Ivy League school’s Hanover campus in April 2015 after officials learned that members branded pledges on their bottoms, said the Boston Globe.
Democrat Mark Connolly was a member of Alpha Delta when he graduated from Dartmouth in 1979. He said he wants his former fraternity reinstated once members prove they are upstanding members of the community. Dartmouth officials said derecognition is permanent.
Game for a laugh
Baywatch star David Hasselhoff and Borussia Dortmund footballer Marco Reus both appeared in virtual form as the Gamescom video games show began in Germany.
The Knight Rider actor appeared as a DJ in a 1980s disco and theme park-based Call of Duty: Zombies In Spaceland experience, which was unveiled by the game’s publisher Activision.
German international Reus is the cover star of Fifa 17, which he played at a pre-show event.
