McCartney sings Beatles’ praises on Walk of Fame
The icon was introduced to a crowd of fans in Los Angeles by Neil Young at a ceremony in front of Capitol Records.
McCartney said: “Way back in history, in Liverpool when we were kids and we were listening to Buddy Holly and all the rock ‘n’ roll greats, I would have never thought that the day would come when I’d be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame... That was like an impossible thing to happen but here we are today and it’s happening.”
McCartney, accompanied by his wife Nancy and son James, said bandmate Ringo Starr would have joined them but he was “a little under the weather”.
He said: “I couldn’t have done it, certainly without the three boys so I want to say thanks to those guys, John, George and Ringo.”
It was announced earlier this week that McCartney will headline a musical tribute to the Queen to mark her Diamond Jubilee in June.
