Blair steps up rhetoric on action against Iraq

BRITISH Prime Minister Tony Blair yesterday gave his strongest indication yet that Saddam Hussein will face military action if the United Nations fails to ensure Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction are dismantled.

Addressing the Trade Union Congress in Blackpool, Mr Blair said the UN should be given a chance to bring the Iraqi leader to heel.

But if it failed to do so then "action will follow", Mr Blair declared.
