Cork City have announced the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Joe Aidoo from Saudi Arabian side Al-Sharq on an 18-month contract.
The 26-year-old, who can play as a attacking or defensive midfielder, has played in Nepal, India, Cameroon and Ghana and will join the Leeside club for free.
Speaking after arriving at the club's training ground in Bishopstown this morning, Aidoo commented on his move to City. "I am really happy to join the club. I hope to make a big contribution to the club in the second half of the season, and help the team achieve their targets.
“I can play as an attacking or defensive midfielder. I like to get on the ball and play, but also work hard without the ball. I am looking forward to playing in front of the Cork City fans, and I hope I can deliver for them."
Cork City manager Barry Robson welcomed his latest recruit. "Joe is a versatile and energetic midfielder who has an eye for a pass. At 26, he's another experienced player who has plenty of games under his belt.
“He’s been working very hard himself while waiting for the paperwork to come through, so we are looking forward to getting him in to train with the lads now that he has arrived. We are very pleased to have him on board and look forward to working with him."
