Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has returned to training with the squad which could put him in contention for the weekend's Merseyside derby.

The Netherlands international missed the club's last two matches - plus Holland's games - with a knee injury sustained in the controversial defeat at Tottenham.

However, the 24-year-old was involved in ball work with his teammates as the squad reassembled at the club's AXA training complex.

Argentina's Alexis Mac Allister, Uruguay's Darwin Nunez, Colombia's Luis Diaz and Brazilian Alisson Becker all trained on Thursday despite having featured in World Cup qualifiers for their respective countries in South America less than 36 hours earlier.
