Draw enough for Dundalk to progress
Dundalk 1 Glentoran 1 (Dundalk win 2-1 on aggregate)
Ross Gaynor put Dundalk into the semi-finals of the Setanta Sports Cup as they came from behind against ten man Glentoran at Oriel Park.
Chasing a 1-0 first leg deficit, Glentoran had the best chance of a tight first half on 34 minutes when Grant Gardner’s deflected drive was brilliantly tipped onto the bar and out for a corner by Dundalk keeper Peter Cherrie.
The tie looked to swing Glentoran’s way early in the second half when they missed and then scored a penalty.
Andrew Waterworth first skied his spot kick over the bar after Dundalk skipper Simon Madden handled inside the area on 54 minutes.
Cherrie then clipped Matty Burrows to give away a second penalty five minutes later which Burrows fired to the net.
Glens had defender Johnny Taylor sent off for a second booking on 78 minutes before Dundalk got the goal to win the tie two minutes later.
Ketih Ward and Mark Quigely worked the ball through for winger Gaynor who confidently slid it under the advancing Elliott Morris.
Result: Crusaders 4 Cliftonville 6 (Cliftonville won 10-6 on aggregate).
