Adeyemi's brace sees 10-man Cobh Ramblers Rams overcome Treaty United

Two goals in less than a minute from Jordan Adeyemi were the difference as Cobh Ramblers defeated Treaty United with ten men at St Colman’s Park.

The forward hit the back of the net twice between the 70th and 71st minute, as the Rams dealt with the dismissal of Breandán Frahill midway through the second half.

The result moves the club up to fifth, and back into the play-offs after a week that began with a disappointing defeat to Kerry at Mounthawk Park.

The feeling of a missed opportunity manifested in a fast start that saw Shane Griffin send a free kick over the bar and Jonas Sternberg hit the near post.

Treaty responded with Fuhad Kareem forcing Timothy Martin into a low save in the 20th minute.

Things exploded in the second half, beginning with Adenopo poking the ball wide at the near post.

Frahill then received a second yellow after a collision with Cian Curtis. Instead of being the moment when Cobh retreated, it galvanised the players on the pitch.

Luka Le Bervet set up the opening goal in the 70th minute with a long ball over the top. Adeyemi finished neatly, and the striker got his second from a similar position after picking the pocket of Ronan Manning in midfield.

Adeyemi could have made it a hat-trick with a penalty, but he hit the ball wide in the 81st minute.

Elsewhere UCD defeated Wexford 4-1 while Athlone edged Longford 2-1 and Bray Wanderers destroyed Finn Harps 5-0.
