Norwegian club Molde have called a press conference this afternoon where they are expected to unveil Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new coach.

The former Manchester United striker has spent the last two years working under Alex Ferguson as a coach at Old Trafford but has seemingly decided the time is right to step up to management.

Solskjaer is thought to have spurned Molde’s advances in the past but with the club labouring in 11th in the Tippeliga after finishing runners up last year, they have again turned to their former player.

A press release from the club confirmed a conference will be held at 2pm local time (1pm Irish time) “for the presentation of a new coach”.

Still only 37 years old, Solskjaer – who has also previously rejected an offer to coach his country – has been United’s reserve team boss since 2008.
