Cork City players receive unpaid wages
All players' wages at Cork City Football Club have been paid up to date as of today, the club said in a statement this afternoon.
The issue of unpaid wages at the embattled Leeside club had led to doubts that tonight's League of Ireland Premier Division clash with Shamrock Rovers would go ahead.
However the club authorities insisted the matter had been resolved.
"While there was a brief delay in the payment of wages due to some players, the club has remained in constant contact with the relevant bodies, along with players and management," the statement said.
The club, which successfully avoided a winding up order earlier this year over its unpaid Revenue bill, acknowledged it had been a "long and difficult" year.
"While the club emerged successfully from the examinership process, we have had to face a number of challenges and have dealt with each of these issues as they have arisen.
"Despite the difficulties we have encountered, Cork City FC has honoured all players’ contracts and has paid all backpay to all of our players resulting from the club entering examinership under its previous owners."
"We acknowledge the continued support of our sponsors and supporters through these difficult times and this is greatly appreciated by all at the club."
