Yorke staying with Makems

Sunderland midfielder Dwight Yorke has signed a new one-year deal to extend his career on Wearside.

The 36-year-old has committed his immediate future to the Black Cats after playing a major role in the club’s return to the Barclays Premier League and their continued presence in it.

Manager Roy Keane told the club’s official website, www.safc.com: “Yorkie’s experience on and off the pitch has been invaluable to us.

“He’s a great character to have in the dressing room and around the training ground and he will have a part to play for us next season.”
