Brown set for Wigan debut
Wigan manager Chris Hutchings is to shuffle his pack for the Carling Cup visit of Hull – meaning midfielder Michael Brown could be handed a full debut.
The 30-year-old summer signing has been restricted to two substitute appearances for the Latics since joining from Fulham due the unexpectedly good early-season form of his team-mates.
He is likely to be joined by a host of players who have struggled to make the starting XI so far this term, with Caleb Folan and Julius Aghahowa set to be drafted into the attack.
Defenders Fitz Hall and Emerson Boyce, goalkeeper Mike Pollitt and midfielder Josip Skoko are all likely to be handed starting roles.
Striker Antoine Sibierski was taken off with a suspected hamstring strain at West Ham on Saturday, and although the injury has not proved as serious as first feared, he is unlikely to be risked against the Coca-Cola Championship club.
Provisional squad: Kirkland, Melchiot, Bramble, Granqvist, Kilbane, Valencia, Scharner, Landzaat, Koumas, Heskey, Hall, Skoko, Cywka, Aghahowa, Camara, Brown, Folan, Boyce, Pollitt.
