Hibs hand trial to Chelsea 'keeper

Hibernian have given a trial to Chelsea reserve goalkeeper Yves Ma Kalambay.

Hibernian have given a trial to Chelsea reserve goalkeeper Yves Ma Kalambay.

The 20-year-old Belgian is well down the order at Stamford Bridge, where he is in his fourth year.

Hibernian boss John Collins said: “I made some phone calls down south and his was a name which was thrown at me. Jose [Mourinho, the Chelsea manager] was happy for him to come up for us to have a look at him.”

Collins has selected 19-year-old Andrew McNeil for Hibernian’s last two Bank of Scotland Premier League matches, dropping Polish goalkeeper Zibi Malkowski after an error-strewn performance against Hearts.

Ma Kalambay had a spell on loan at Watford last season but was used as cover and did not appear in the Hornets’ promotion-winning first team.
