Fog puts Cup clash in doubt

Liverpool’s home Carling Cup quarter-final against Arsenal was in doubt tonight after heavy fog descended on Anfield.

Visibility was poor barely two hours prior to the 7.45pm kick-off.

Referee Martin Atkinson inspected the conditions and decided another assessment was required at 6.45pm.

However, the official said if the fog had not worsened the match would go ahead.
