Yorke: 'I'll quit when time is Dwight'

Sunderland striker Dwight Yorke insists he has not called time on his international career.

The 35-year-old did not join up with the Trinidad and Tobago squad for their friendly against Austria in Vienna tonight as the Black Cats prepare for Saturday’s Coca-Cola Championship match against Colchester.

However, while he is desperate to give the best service he can to club boss Roy Keane, he admits he has not yet turned his back on international football.

He told the club’s official website, www.safc.com: “We are in a situation [at Sunderland] where we have to start winning matches on a more regular basis.

“It is nice to play for your country, but I feel I have to give my full concentration to Sunderland.

“It is more important I am here helping the team prepare for the weekend than going to Austria for what is only a friendly.

“I have a great understanding with the T&T FA and they know my situation here.

“I am not saying it is over for me, but they know there will be times when I will not make myself available.”
