Pellegrini playing for a win

Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini insists his side will go all out for the win against Rangers in their Champions League last 16 second-leg clash.

The Primera Liga side would progress with a 0-0 or 1-1 draw after the sides finished level at 2-2 at Ibrox a fortnight ago, but Pellegrini is determined not to let that influence his side’s approach.

“The fact they have to find a goal is important but not so much, and for us it is necessary we continue playing at the level that we have done recently,” he said.

“We must start with the intention of getting the win and in no way will we consider that what we did there is enough.

“Nobody thinks the game has been won after the draw in Glasgow. We will still demand the maximum and it is a very tough tie in which we will have to fight in order to go through.”

Playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme should be available, leaving Juan Pablo Sorin the only member of the squad on the sidelines after he returned from international duty with Argentina last week carrying a knock.
