Southgate bemoans defensive lapses

Middlesbrough skipper Gareth Southgate admitted his side’s defending was not up to standard as they twice allowed victory to slip from their grasp against Tottenham.

Boro were behind after 25 minutes but got ahead on 43 and 69 minutes only to succumb to Mido’s late equaliser in their Barclays Premiership encounter at the Riverside Stadium yesterday.
