Chelsea in good Kompany
Chelsea’s Champions League opponents Anderlecht have claimed the Premiership champions are interested in signing central defender Vincent Kompany.
The highly-rated centre-half was high on Chelsea’s target list during the summer but coach Jose Mourinho opted to sign a left-back, Asier Del Horno, instead.
Chelsea beat the Belgians 1-0 on Tuesday night in their opening Group G clash at Stamford Bridge, but Anderlecht managing director Herman van Holsbeeck confirmed the Blues were monitoring the 19-year-old’s situation.
He said: “Chelsea are interested in Vincent and maybe a deal can be done. I’ve advised Roman Abramovich to keep a special eye on him.”
