Spurs hope to end Chelsea's Three Point Lane tag

Frank Lampard made his 150th consecutive Premiership appearance as Chelsea looked to continue their excellent record against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Lampard featured in a side with three changes from the line-up that beat West Brom in midweek, with Petr Cech, Paulo Ferreira and Damien Duff returning at the expense of Carlo Cudicini, Glen Johnson and Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Spurs had not beaten Chelsea in a top-flight game since February 1990, when they won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, while their last home league success was almost three years earlier.

While Ledley King, Noe Pamarot, Sean Davis and Wayne Routledge were ruled out, Anthony Gardner and Teemu Tainio both passed fitness tests.

Jermain Defoe, Edgar Davids, Michael Carrick and Stephen Kelly came into the side that had secured a goalless draw at Blackburn in midweek for what was, admittedly at an early stage of the season, a clash of the top two.
