Greek defender linked with Celtic move
Greece defender Traianos Dellas is hoping Celtic will offer him the chance to play in the Champions League.
The former Sheffield United player, who won Euro 2004 with his country last year, is the subject of interest from the Hoops, according to his agent, Maurizio Tonicchi.
Tonicchi told the Evening Times: “I have spoken to Peter Lawwell and Celtic are interested in Dellas.
“We are at the stage where we want to get things done soon because it is important the player knows his team-mates and has a chance to train before the season gets going.
“I understand that Celtic have two qualifiers to play if they are to get to the Champions League group stages and this is something Dellas is also aware of.
“There is interest in him from Germany and France, but his main priority is that he goes to a club who will be playing in Europe.”
Celtic manager Gordon Strachan is hoping to confirm the signing of Poland striker Maciej Zurawski shortly after agreeing terms with Wisla Krakow.
Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere has also agreed to meet the Celtic Park boss over a possible loan move to Glasgow.
The 22-year-old said: “Celtic want me and I’m going to Glasgow this week to speak to Gordon Strachan.
“Celtic would be ideal because it would give me the chance to play regular football and in the Champions League.”
