Earnshaw penalty keeps Baggies' hopes alive
Manchester United 1 West Bromwich Albion 1
West Brom somehow emerged from almost constant bombardment at Old Trafford with their Premiership survival hopes still intact.
Results elsewhere mean they go into the final weekend at the foot of the table but Robert Earnshaw’s second half penalty ensures if the Baggies beat Portsmouth next weekend and Norwich, Crystal Palace and Southampton do not muster a goal between them, Bryan Robson’s men will stay in the top flight next year.
Robson could hardly claim West Brom deserved a draw. But after they had fallen behind to Ryan Giggs first-half free-kick, substitute keeper Tomasz Kuszczak proved their hero with a succession of magnificent saves to keep United out.
