Cole given boost

Joe Cole has received a boost from Sven-Goran Eriksson in his bid to earn a place in the England starting line-up for Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland.

The 23-year-old lined up on the left side of midfield in a 4-4-2 formation during England’s training session on Tuesday at Manchester United’s Carrington complex.
