New deal for Kiraly

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly has agreed a new two-and-a-half-year contract at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly has agreed a new two-and-a-half-year contract at Selhurst Park.

The Hungary international has established himself as Palace’s first-choice stopper since joining the club on a free transfer from Hertha Berlin last summer.

Palace are battling against relegation in the Barclays Premiership but Kiraly, who has made 21 Premiership appearances this season, is confident they can survive.

The 28-year-old told the club’s official website, www.cpfc.co.uk: “If I was not confident Palace would stay in the Premiership I would not be here.

“We have one single target this season and that is to stay in this league, which must be achieved at all costs.

“I wanted to stay here by all means. I have aims with Crystal Palace and I want to achieve them. To achieve these targets would be the greatest thing.”

Palace boss Iain Dowie was pleased Kiraly had committed his immediate future to the club.

Dowie said: “We are delighted to see Gabor sign this new contract.

“He has done really well since joining us in pre-season and we hope he continues the outstanding form which he has shown throughout the season.”
