Over-exuberant celebrations for the All-Ireland football final resulted in damage to the interior of a newly re-opened Mayo pub.

Cannon’s Bar on Market Square in Castlebar had been closed since 1989 but re-opened earlier this month.

Glass panelling and a decorative bench were damaged in the bar on Monday night with the pub fearing it could hinder their operating hours this week.

“We’re all for celebrations but this stings and could hamper us opening again this week,” said the bar in a post on social media.

The pub was also reaching out to any tradesmen who could help.

"If you're a quality tradesman and would like o help us, get in touch."
