Magpies wait for injury updates

Newcastle manager Graeme Souness is hoping for some good news on the injury front as he prepares to return to former club Liverpool.

Alan Shearer (thigh), Patrick Kluivert (hamstring), Kieron Dyer (calf), Laurent Robert (leg muscle) and Lee Bowyer (suspension), all missed last night’s 1-1 UEFA Cup draw with Sporting Lisbon.

Souness is expecting most, if not all, to be fit for Sunday’s trip to Anfield.

Craig Bellamy injured his back against Sporting, but should be fit, although Ronny Johnsen and Nicky Butt (both hamstring) and Stephen Carr (knee) remain on the sidelines.
