Woman at centre of FA shocker sells story
The woman at the centre of the scandal which has rocked the Football Association is to sell her story, it emerged today.
PR consultant Max Clifford said Faria Alam had approached him and he had agreed to represent her.
“She wants to give her version of what has happened to her, as opposed to everybody else’s version in her own words,” he said.
The news will send further shockwaves through the top echelons of English football on the day the FA board meets to discuss the fate of coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, who had an affair with Ms Alam, as did former chief executive Mark Palios.
The deal is thought to include two Sunday tabloid newspapers and a TV deal, possibly ITN’s Trevor McDonald.
With magazine interviews and further outlets in Sweden and Asia to be negotiated, media experts said she could earn as much as £750,000 (€1.1m).
Clifford said: “She approached me, I have agreed to represent her.
“I think she’s a lovely and very intelligent woman, and her story gives a unique insight into those at the top of football in this country.
“What has brought this about is a combination of things, including the fact that there have been so many stories written about her in the last two weeks, from so-called close friends, some true, some partly true, and some totally untrue.
“She wants to give her version of what’s happened to her, as opposed to everybody else’s version, in her own words.
“The meeting she had with the FA a couple of days ago also helped her make up her mind that that’s what she wants to do.”
