Chelsea spending spree at an end

Peter Kenyon declared Chelsea’s summer shopping spree was over after Portuguese international defender Ricardo Carvalho became the final piece in Jose Mourinho’s 24-man jigsaw.

The 26-year-old last night signed a three-year contract after the Premiership side agreed a fee of €30m with European champions Porto.
