Lehmann hit with £10,000 fine
Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has been fined £10,000 (€18,000) by the Football Association following an incident with Southampton’s Kevin Phillips in December.
Lehmann was charged with improper conduct for throwing the ball at the back of Phillips’ head at the end of the Premiership clash at St Mary’s.
The German, who pleaded guilty to the charge, was also warned as to his future conduct by the FA.
Lehmann and Phillips clashed a couple of times during the game and the German claimed the Saints striker had stood on his hand.
Matters came to a head just after the final whistle when Lehmann threw the ball at the back of Phillips' head and referee Steve Dunn intervened.
Phillips was also charged by the FA after the incident was included in Dunn’s report but has decided to appeal.
The former Sunderland forward intends to present video evidence to back up his case.
