Boro would have suited me, says Phillips

Former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips has admitted he would have jumped at the chance to join derby rivals Middlesbrough.

The 30-year-old, the highest-profile departure from the Stadium of Light following the Black Cats’ relegation to Division One, is currently plying his trade on the South Coast with the club which rejected him as a teenager, Southampton.
