Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari selected the 18-year-old in his 18-man party for next week’s friendly match with Kazakhstan in Chaves, the latest in a series of preparatory matches for Euro 2004 when Portugal will be the host nation.

It completes a memorable week for teenager Ronaldo who on Tuesday completed his move to Old Trafford.

Ronaldo is joined by two other Barclaycard Premiership youngsters in the squad, with Tottenham’s new recruit Helder Postiga and Newcastle winger Hugo Viana also picked.
