Scotland deny Vogts link to Olympiakos
The Scottish Football Association have dismissed reports linking Scotland manager Berti Vogts with a move to Olympiakos.
The Greek champions are reportedly interested in taking the former Germany coach and international to Athens as they prepare for the Champions League.
But the SFA insist they have received no approach for the national manager.
An SFA spokesman said: “This is all news to us. We have heard nothing.”
Vogts has endured a troubled 15 months in Scotland since following Craig Brown into the national job.
Scotland won just four from a possible 15 games before Vogts restored some pride with a creditable 1-1 draw in the Euro 2004 qualifier against Germany earlier this month.
The Scots still have a good chance of qualifying for the European Championships in Portugal next year although a play-off place is the likeliest route.
But Olympiakos president Sokrates Kokkalis has reportedly confirmed the club’s interest in the German coach, who is under contract with Scotland until 2006.
However, Vogts is one of a number of high profile coaches to have been linked with Olympiakos, with former Bayer Leverkusen coach Klaus Toppmoller, Barcelona’s Raddy Antic and Italian Nevio Scala all having been mentioned.
The current coach of the Greek champions, Ukrainian Oleg Protasov, took over from Srecko Katanec in February and duly led the club to their seventh straight title.
