Amoruso focused on cup final
Rangers defender Lorenzo Amoruso has insisted he is thinking only of winning the Tennent’s Scottish Cup with Rangers and not a move to Blackburn.
A summer switch to Ewood Park looks likely nonetheless, with ex-Gers boss Graeme Souness having lodged a £1.5m (€2.08m) bid.
But with Rangers one game away from doing the Treble, Amoruso insisted he was concentrating on nothing but helping beat Dundee at Hampden tomorrow.
He told The Daily Record: “This is not the time to be talking about transfers to Blackburn or anywhere else.
“To be honest, I’m not even giving Blackburn a second thought. I’m only thinking about Rangers and winning the Treble.
“I have had this Blackburn thing hanging over me for a while now, but I think the manager and the fans have seen my commitment to them is as strong as ever.”
The Italian, who has a year on his contract remaining, had offered to take a 20% pay cut on a new deal.
But Rangers’ debts are mounting and therefore the prospect of money in the bank plus cash off the wage bill is likely to prove too tempting.
Arthur Numan, Claudio Caniggia, Jerome Bonnissel, Dan Eggen and Bert Konterman could all also be leaving the club.
But striker Michael Mols could stay on for another year following an impressive burst of scoring.
