Petrov misses out on Celtic cup tie

Celtic midfielder Stilian Petrov will miss his side's Tennent's Scottish Cup tie with St Mirren.

The Bulgarian international trained on Friday after turning his ankle in Florida, but the Parkhead boss will not take a risk.

Magnus Hedman, however, is expected to be in goal despite feeling a groin spasm before the Lisbon Lions tribute match and Javier Sanchez Broto is set to come in on the bench with David Marshall making way.

St Mirren manager John Coughlin is confident despite having a number of selection worries. He will be without injured Jamie McGowan, while new signings Ally Mitchell and Mark Dempsey are ineligible to play.

Coughlin admits some of his players have been kicking their heels at the prospect of facing their Celtic heroes - while others will be desperate to put the boot in.

He said: "There are quite a few Celtic supporters in the squad who can't wait to play there, and a few Rangers supporters who can't wait to kick them. The players are up for it and it's a huge match. The players are dying to get their teeth into it."
